In January 2017, with promoting a long-life hydraulic extended tool, Grifco had launched a new product-- debris catcher with choke manifold. In March this year, the new product had been successfully introduced to the Chinese market.
With the development of shale gas, coiled tubing drilling and grinding bridge plug has been applied widely. As a key links in drilling process, operators pay more attention on surface choke and debris catcher. The regular debris catcher and choke manifold are two independent devices, their surface connection, disassembly, pressure test and transportation all need to be operated separately. There are often mismatches in connection in the field, pressure test after surface assembly test is not up to standard, and more than two loading are required.
Chock device and debris catcher device are integrated on debris catcher with choke manifold. The promotion of the tool simplifies the steps of connection, improves the efficiency of above ground installation, keeps chock and debris catching functions and improves the convenience of on-site maintenance.
In addition to integrating the choke manifold with the debris catcher, Grifco has greatly improved the ease of use of the debris catcher. The specific performance are as follows: 1.The maintenance efficiency of debris catcher has been improved and the working intensity is reduced. Normal debris catcher achieves connection by thread on both sides of the device, and the least 6-8 button thread can meet the requirements of pressure rating in API. Therefore, researchers need to remove the thread cap of the two filter cartridge in normal maintenance, which is time-consuming and laborious. In the new structure, we adopt an efficient and convenient disassembly method, only need to use the crowbar to rotate the cap 45 degrees can remove the cap, and greatly improve the maintenance efficiency and reduce the work intensity of the operation. 2. Reasonable design and material preparation greatly reduces the weight and improves the transportation and lifting safety of equipment. In order to ensure the strength and welding in conventional structures, bodies with thick pipe wall are used for debris catcher, which are connected by multiple welding methods. Although the connection strength is allowed, the weight of the whole equipment also increases. In the new design, the whole forging structure is adopted in many places, which greatly reduces the negative influence of welding seam on the overall strength. The high strength alloy steel is selected, and the overall weight of the equipment is reduced by 40% when reaching the same pressure, so as to ensure the safety of the equipment in the process of transportation and lifting.
At present, this equipment has been used in western China and highly praised by customers for its convenience.
